A Few Observations

  • Dr. Peds was able to celebrate 40 years with much more grace and humor than I.
  • Dr. Peds has some pretty funny siblings.  They sent hilarious care packages.  My favorite part were the forms that Auntie Amy Texas sent to sign Dr. Peds up for adult geriatric day care.  They were gut-splitting funny,
  • When I asked Dr. Peds what he wanted for his birthday treat he answered, “Jell-o with Cool Whip on top.”  He did that just to create problems because everyone knows I can’t make Jell-o.  It NEVER turns out.  However, in my wise old age, I circumnavigated the situation by outsourcing the Jell-o making to the resident ten year old and made up for it by baking white chocolate Macadamian nut Blondies . . . that didn’t really turn out.  At least the thought counts?
  • We did not have 40 birthday candles.  I could only find 24, but we did have three letter candles that spelled “OLD” sent by Dr. Peds’ wonderful siblings.  Thank goodness for the sibling and their celebration supplies. I’m pretty terrible at planning celebrations. Also, I couldn’t figure out how to run the candle-lighting torch, and I’m afraid of fire, so I had Dr. Peds light his own birthday candles.   Just 24 candles on a small pie-sized Macadamian nut treat was quite a blaze.  I was a little nervous about the cardboard box next to the candle blowing.  Thankfully there were no issues.
  • Dr. Peds is an awesome dad.  He’s so awesome that he took The Banana out after supper to purchase a dress for the upcoming Father Daughter Ball this Friday since there would be absolutely no other time in the family schedule to go shopping.
