Popsicle Stick Prayers

I’m taking just a minute to share a simple idea that came from the children’s ministry department at my church.  A few weeks ago our church had a week especially devoted to the discipline of prayer across all ages, and our children’s teachers  and leaders decorated hundreds of popsicle sticks with washi tape.  They distributed bundles to the kids and explained how they could write the names of people or things they wanted to remember to pray about on the popsicle sticks, and pull them out before bed or before eating with their family to remember what they would like to pray about.

It’s such a simple concept, and it is working so great for our family.  We have added popsicle sticks over the weeks with names of family members or friends that we want to keep in our prayers, along with larger global ideas, natural disasters, or local crises.  After we pray about what is on the popsicle stick, we move it to a different jar, and then start over again.  It has really helped our prayer life at home be more focused, and there is just something fun about it too.
